Life Lessons Through Eyes of CC

Over the years, I have learned and am still learning how be a better and more positive person in my life. I want to share what I have learned and pass it on to you with the hope that somehow it will help you in your life!

Bullying

Over the years, I have learned not to reacted to bullies. Yes, it is very difficult, but it is the right thing to do! Why? Allowed me to explain!

  1. Bullies thrive own your reaction that is, they want to get a reaction out of you. If you don’t react they don’t get what they want. Keep in mind, when they can’t get you to react the bulling usually get worse not better. Just don’t react.
  2. You don’t want to sink to their level. You are a good person. You want to stay true to yourself. Like Apollo staying true to himself in Apollo In Colorland. He never once reacted badly toward any of the animals picking on him. He was nice when he entered Colorland and he remained that way.

I realize what I am telling you is very, very difficult. It is human nature for us to react and defend ourselves against bullies, but in the long run people will respect you more for staying true to yourself, then sinking to the level of a bully.

Just say “Thank you”

When people criticize you, either to be helpful or cruel, saying “thank you” works. Not only is it both professional and polite, but for people that are just trying to be downright cruel, it stops them in their tracks. They do not know how to respond. Trust me, I have done this many times and they just walk away speechless every time.

Send a card

Send a card out of the blue to let people know that you care and are thinking about them.  Trust me you will brighten up their day.

Sit quietly, listen, and observe

Everyone has an opinion on whatever the topic of conversation is, including me! Over the years, I have found that many times my opinions are wrong due to the lack of knowledge I had on the subject to begin with. Therefore, I find myself more and more sitting quietly, listening and observing what people are saying. You will learn things that you may not have if you jumped in and said something.

“You too?”

It is very lonesome when you think that you are the only one thinking or feeling something, However, typically in a conversation someone will say something that I have thought or felt as well and I end up saying “you too?” I always felt so much better that someone had experienced the same thing I have. It also a gentle reminder the we are not alone.
